Monologue！Kaufmann’s first solo exhibition in Taiwan

German artist Ruprecht von Kaufmann’s first solo exhibition “Monologue” in Taiwan. He studies all aspects of human beings, uses the visual language of contemporary painting to present critical narratives and realistic illusions, presents figure paintings in a restrained and delicate way, and depicts the contradictions and losses of contemporary people with an open and humorous approach.

This solo exhibition will showcase themes spanning the creation era, and large-scale magical realistic works that refer to classical paintings will also be exhibited at Bluerider ART for the first time.

Kaufmann uses oil paint to create, including paintings and sculptures. His creative inspiration comes from life experience. More often, he uses reading literature, music and movies to trigger various images and imaginations in his mind. Compared with the time narrative of the film, the painting is a fixed-frame work. The artist introduces the feeling of front and back into the painting, which opens up more possibilities of expression. It is also expected that the viewer will follow the guidance of the composition of the picture when viewing the work. , resulting in a strong emotional response. Painting is the result of continuous decision-making, but at the same time, it also bears unpredictable images, such as faces that are repeatedly smeared and disappear, blurred faces in his works, and refer to unrestricted and open figures.

Although Kaufmann is good at observing and capturing human images, he does not create traditional “portraits” – a human face does not refer to a specific object, but a specific type of person. In a continuous composition of low-chromatic, depressing colors, Kaufmann captures many deeply personal moments, individual fragility, and also suggests a universal human experience.
